| Mount Elbert Lodge & Cabins / Twin Lakes, Colorado / 800-381-4433 www.mount-elbert.com / info@mount-elbert.com Located just outside the tiny town of Twin Lakes (population probably about 50 people) and only around 30 minutes from Leadville (a neat old mining town with several funky bars and restaurants), Mount Elbert Lodge is a comfortable and affordable place to stay while enjoying the surrounding lakes and mountains. We stayed in the Waterwheel Cabin (pictured in the upper left corner, first photo). It was clean, cozy and pet friendly. Although the cabin and the main lodge are located just off the main road, we were visiting during the off-season, so the traffic noise was not a problem. I think we only saw three cars go by the entire day. It was beautiful, with the snow on the trees, but I would imagine that during the summer, Mount Elbert Lodge is an even more fantastic place to stay a night or two. The scenery is beautiful, and the wildlife is plentiful. We even got lucky enough to see a bunch of mountain goats. - Tell 'em Dusty Dave sent ya! |
