If return customers are a good sign for visiting a place then you can not miss Grapevine Canyon Ranch. While I was there, I met a woman who had been coming there, every year, for 18 years. Although return customers are common at most good ranches, I have to admit that 18 times is impressive. The accommodations consisted of several cabins scattered around the property, each one hidden in the trees and bushes for a nice private feel. The night I arrived, they had live music in the main room which was just amazing. There is nothing better than some good, old cowboy songs played live on guitar in a private setting. The meals were traditional ranch style food served in the dining area which had several round picnic-like tables. This gave you a good opportunity to meet your fellow guests and wranglers too. The main focus of the ranch was definitely the horseback riding. Unlike a lot of ranches, Grapevine owns, not leases, their horses so they really have a good idea of each horses personality. The rides were very scenic and I especially enjoyed the evening rides we had after supper under the stars and moon. The ranch does not allow children under 12 years of age, so the adult atmosphere was rather relaxing. I give it a thumbs-up and would love to go back some time. - Tell 'em Dusty Dave sent ya!
