| Elk Mountain Resort / Montrose, Colorado / 970-252-4900 www.elkmountainresort.com / info@elkmountainresort.com From the moment I arrived until the second I departed, I felt as though I was someone very important. The security and communication between the staff gives you the feeling that the president himself is staying in one of the suites at the resort. It seemed a little odd, but one of the first questions I was asked at the guard post as I drove in was if I had any firearms. "No, not usually?" Then, after a quick tour of the facility which included a visit to the Valhalla Shooting Club, it all started to make sense. This place is somewhere that the president could come, and probably has. I don't know too much about shooting ranges, but this facility was made for professionals. It had everything you could possibly imagine, including pop-up bad guys, a maze of interactive shooting rooms to go through including a bedroom, kitchen, bar, disco (complete with smoke machine and strobe lights) and even the inside of an airplane. I was told that people like SWAT and special forces train there - I believe it. Just like the shooting range, the rest of the facility was top-notch - everything was the best. The rooms were unbelievably nice and looked as though they had come out of one of the fancy, luxury home magazines that are left in the rooms for your reading pleasure. The main lodge, restaurant, fitness center, tennis courts, climbing tower, ropes course and private log homes were all just as impressive. They even had an entire church big enough for a small town, on-site, for weddings. So, if you visit Elk Mountain Resort, don't be surprised to see someone famous or at least feel as though they are there. - Tell 'em Dusty Dave sent ya! |
