So far, in fact, that the only electricity at the ranch is provided by their own generator. That translates to really good star viewing. The lengthy dirt road you have to take to get to the ranch sort of sets the pace for a very relaxing country vacation. Once at the ranch, I settled in to my roomy cabin and took a walk past one of the small ponds to the main ranch house. There I found the dining room, library and lounge area. The food at the ranch was good, plentiful and always appreciated. The trail rides were scenic and very relaxing. They went in and out of big groves of aspens and pines and I never took the same trail the entire time I was at the ranch. There was a petting zoo for all the kids to enjoy. It had some goats, a lamb and a pig. There was also a square dance and a hay ride complete with smores. One of my favorite memories at Elk Mountain was the brunch ride where we stopped on the mountain top to have a fire cooked brunch and champagne to wash it down.
