| Blue Pearl Suites / Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico When I arrived in Mexico, my final destination was Tulum, which is about an hour and a half south of Cancun. I arrived late into Cancun though, so I wanted to stay something in between the two cities. Playa del Carmen worked out perfectly because it is just about half way between the two and it is a pretty serious resort town in its own right. Like I said, I got in late at the airport, took a bus for about 45 minutes until I got to Playa del Carmen. I was exhausted. I made it to the hotel and I was not sure what to expect. From the outside, it looks like everything else in a city, a regular building, but when I was shown to my room I couldn't believe it. It was beautiful. I can't tell you how impressed I was and how relieved I was to have a nice place to crash. After that long trip it felt especially good. I cleaned up then went out to grab something to eat. The main street where everything is going on (that's what the bottom two photos are of) is just one street over, so it worked out well. I had some food, some drinks, did some people watching then headed back to the casa. I went to bed early, woke up the next morning with just enough time to step out on the balcony and look out before I had to take off again. The hotel is about a block or so from the beach and I could see the ocean from the room. The people at Blue Pearl were extremely friendly and polite. Overall, it was very clean, very comfortable and close to all the action. I would definitely recommend it. If you end up going, make sure and - Tell 'em Dusty Dave sent ya! |
