#10 - ECO-RESORTS

Eco-Resorts

Off the Grid Green Goodness

by Dusty Dave

First of all, what is an eco-resort? Eco-resorts are ecologically friendly places that use all-natural products and try and rely as much as possible on renewable energy sources. They may use solar power, wind power or even hydro power for the electricity to run their resort operations. In addition, many eco-resorts will use candles for lighting which actually makes for a much more cozy atmosphere. The goal of these resorts is to be self sustainable and to minimize the use of earth's resources. They are becoming more and more popular as everyone around the world is faced with the issues at hand regarding the depletion of natural resources. So, if you are an earth conscious, tree hugger type of person or even if you just want to be earth friendly for a week long vacation, you should look into staying at an eco-resort. Like they say, if each one of us does our part, as a whole, we can make a big difference.

Howdy! Listed below are a few very nice places that I have picked out for your convenience.

You are free to share all the information and photos in this press release with your readers. Just click on any image for a high-res version.

Have a great day & Giddy-Up!

Azulik Seaside Resort
Tulum, Mexico

Thatched roof huts teetering above the crashing waves with only candles to light your way sounds like an exciting adventure. Put yourself in this picture: the Caribbean Sea, a beachside cabana without electricity or telephones, only the sound of the birds to wake you up in the morning and the murmur of sea waves to lull you to sleep at night. This is Azulik Seaside Resort in Tulum, Mexico. This small cluster of fifteen private beachfront villas with a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea, is your ticket to paradise. The entire Azulik Resort was fully constructed of local woods, each villa having its own private deck and outdoor hanging bed. This resort is clothing-optional, so just imagine all the money you will save not having to pay the airline fees for all that excess luggage.

Silverton, Colorado

This solar powered lodge sits on top of Red Mountain Pass in the beautiful San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. Conveniently located between Ouray (which is known for its hot spring pools and a winter ice climbing park) and Silverton (which is known for its extreme skiing and narrow gauge railway), you will have several options to choose from to keep you busy if you are not too tired from the backcountry skiing and hiking right out your door. The lodge is very roomy with a nice big deck for enjoying an apre ski cocktail, or two. There is a full kitchen, wood stove and even an indoor shower. The lodge does not have a flush toilet, but a very clean and conveniently located outhouse is just off the deck. What are you waiting for? Dust off those skis and head to the hills.
